The best feature? A wrap-around balcony terrace with commanding views of the strip. The bar also does its bit for the community, supporting local LGBTQ amateur athletes and various service organizations. When it comes to broadcast sports, you can catch up to 15 different sporting events at one time via 25 HD displays scattered throughout the bar and patios. Regular entertainment includes showtune sing-a-longs on Tuesdays Wednesday and Sunday karaoke, and a hilarious variety show hosted by drag queen Jada Pinkett Fox on Thursdays.

Spanning two levels, the bar hosts an assortment of events, from sports watch parties to friendly mixers, drag shows and comedy video nights. Whether you’re in the mood to dance away the night, see a drag show or catch a game at a neighborhood dive, 10Best has the lowdown on where to find the best gay party scene.Ī favorite among locals, Woody's is the best spot on Cedar Springs for kicked-back vibes, fabulous people watching and some of the best drink specials in the neighborhood. Speaking of all-inclusive places: For those who want to take a night out on the town to a new level, there’s Don’t Tell Supper Club, an eclectic restaurant, nightclub and entertainment venue located downtown. Looking for something a little more laid back? Then head a few blocks over to the Grapevine Bar, a funky straight-friendly, gay dive with cheap booze, yard games, pool tables, and an awesome rooftop deck. The drag shows upstairs in the Rose Room are also a must-see. Want to let it all hang out on the dance floor ? Then hit Station 4– a cavernous nightspot featuring amazing music and an epic motion-sensor light display. Here you’ll find dozens of bars and clubs (as well as shops and eateries), each with an unique vibe, and many within walking distance of one another. Most of the action is concentrated in Dallas’ official gayborhood along Cedar Springs Road in the Oak Lawn area. After all, Dallas is home to one of the largest gay populations in the country, and as such– it has a vibrant and diverse nightlife scene that caters to the LGBTQ crowd. But the fun doesn't slow down when Pride is over. While I might be out of my personal element, on a Monday night, with Dallas playing the Saints, my two visits were very good, and OH, those Popcorn Shrimp.Dallas' annual Pride celebration takes over the city on the third weekend each September –and with it comes a host of events, ranging from a massive festival in Reverchon Park to a parade down the Cedar Springs strip. My bartender from my first visit, was not on duty the second day, but passed through the restaurant, and stopped to check on me, and to tell the bartender on-duty, that I was a “troublesome customer.” LOL. My service was very good, and very friendly. Lots of sports memorabilia (all relating to Dallas, if I saw everything), but that is to be expected.

I can imagine what it must be like, with some important game on the various TV’s scattered about the entire restaurant. Now, Draft, as per its name (double meaning, as in “draft beer,” but also “sports team draft”), wine is not the strength.īoth of my visits were during lunch, and Draft was relatively quite. The shrimp, however were, and on my second visit, I went with the “Popcorn Shrimp,” which were excellent. They were OK, but the sauce was not to my liking. I was quickly served, and looked over the bar-bites menu, settling on the Shrimp Tacos. I was familiar with most of the offerings, and especially as I had already spent time at another lobby bar, at the opposite end of the property. I found the wine list, and read over that – it did not take long.

I passed it by, at that moment, but returned a bit later, and then returned the next day.ĭraft is a largish space, with a full bar at one end, with seating, then two not quite separate seating areas, and then another small bar, which I did not see operational. As soon as I walked past Draft Media Sports Lounge (known simply as Draft), in the lobby of the Dallas Sheraton hotel, just as the doors were opened, I knew that it was a “sports bar.” If all of the TV’s had not told the tale, the sports memorabilia adorning almost all the wall space did.
